The sometimes-serious, sometimes-inappropriate happenings in the life of a city kid his mid twenties. hnds2yrslf@gmail.com |
I’m going to the New York Red Bulls Area in Harrison NJ tonight for the first time, to see the team’s latest acquisition (reasonably the biggest MLS get after Beckham) French player Thierry Henry play himself into shape against EPL team Tottenham Hostpur.

“I’m just thrilled to be here,” said Henry. “Everybody knows that I love this city, but I can assure you that I came here to try to win.”

This run, though, gives Henry the perfect stage to make a spectacular debut for New York. Red Bulls fans – and soccer fans in general – will tune in to watch the Frenchman display his great touch and nose for goal that have made him one of the most prolific strikers throughout his career.

For his part, Henry says he isn’t worried about being an ambassador of the game in the United States, as many have suggested his role will be in MLS. He also isn’t concerned with growing the game’s popularity in the Tri-State area. He just wants to win soccer games.
“I’m here obviously to try to win and compete with my team and win a title,” Henry said. “That’s the only way you can make this game progress.”
Obviously, I’m excited for it.
Me too…But I’ll be sitting in the Hotspur supporters area!
